Biography

American - (1925 - 2008)

Robert Rauschenberg (1925-2008) remains an avant-garde American artist whose innovative creations transcended conventional boundaries, encompassing painting, sculpture, multimedia, and beyond. The 1950s witnessed Rauschenberg's meteoric rise with his groundbreaking "Combine" paintings, revolutionary works fusing painting, sculpture, and found objects. Among his audacious projects was the iconic "Erased de Kooning Drawing" (1953), an act of erasure challenging conventional notions of authorship and artistic value.

His creations grace the esteemed collections of internationally acclaimed museums, including the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), New York; Tate Modern, London; Centre Pompidou, Paris; Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao, Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA); Art Institute of Chicago; Museum of Contemporary Art ,Tokyo; Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam; Moderna Museet, Stockholm; and other major public and private collections worldwide. Rauschenberg was also receipt of the esteemed Leonardo da Vinci World Award of Arts in 1995.
