Emily Pope

Biography

Emily Pope, born in 1990 in the United Kingdom, is a London-based artist and writer whose multidisciplinary practice spans audio, video, text, and performance. Her work often interrogates themes of class, gender, bureaucracy, and language, with a sharp wit and politically engaged perspective. Pope is particularly recognised for her satirical radio plays and spoken word pieces, which blend fictional narrative with social critique, often reflecting on contemporary British culture and working life. A graduate of the Royal College of Art, she has exhibited and presented work at prominent venues including South London Gallery, Somerset House, and Auto Italia. Pope's works are held in respected institutional and private collections, and she is regarded as a distinctive voice in the UK’s contemporary art and experimental writing scenes.
