Biography
Born in Reggio Calabria, Italy, in 1986, Gioele Amaro is a contemporary artist who currently lives and works between Paris and Milan. Initially trained as an architect, he earned degrees from the University of Art and Architecture Mediterranea in Reggio Calabria and La Villette in Paris. Amaro's artistic practice merges traditional mediums—such as painting, photography, and drawing—with digital technologies. He creates digital compositions that are printed on canvas and meticulously reworked with multiple layers of varnish, resulting in works that challenge conventional perceptions of painting. His art often explores the interplay between the real and virtual worlds, featuring complex structures and reflective surfaces that invite viewers to reconsider their visual experiences. Amaro has exhibited extensively across Europe and China, with solo exhibitions at esteemed galleries including Almine Rech in London and Paris, Galerie Forsblom in Helsinki, and HdM Gallery in Shanghai. His works are held in notable private collections, and he has collaborated with prominent brands such as Valentino, showcasing his art on a grand billboard at Avenue de l’Opéra in Paris.
