"I Saw Half the Moon" (2002) by Damien Hirst is a unique, hand-finished coloured etching. Hirst employs a distinctive method involving a spin machine, which he originally developed during the 1993 'A Fete Worse than Death' event with artist Angus Fairhurst. Inspired by a children's game, they used an inverted electric drill to create spin paintings. For this series, Hirst adapted the technique to etching, attaching copper plates to the spin machine and drawing with sharp tools.
