Frieze London 2022: Highlights

2022 has flown by and Frieze Week is upon us once again.  We loved visiting the fair on Wednesday and are here to share our highlights with you, our collectors.

Solo Shows

We were enthralled by Didier William’s solo exhibition in the James Fuentes Gallery (NYC) booth (G26). William’s uniqure figures immediately grabbed our attention, and the large-scale artworks provided a moment of contemplation during the wildly busy fair. Heidi Hahn’s display in the Kadel Willborn (Dusseldorf, D1) booth was also excellently curated and gave Hahn’s moving portraits a wonderful platform. Our third solo-show highlight was at Gallery Vacancy’s (Shanghai, H9) booth, showcasing the work of Michael Ho. Ho’s hypnotic work is entrancingly textured, and was brilliantly positioned in the fair.

Group Shows

There were far too many excellent group shows to name. However, we loved Nicelle Beauchene Gallery’s (Athens, D17) booth filled with a variety of exciting, dynamic two- and three-dimensional works, Morán Morán’s (LA & Mexico City, G28) powerful selection of striking paintings, and Kavi Gupta’s (Chicago, G9) curation of beautiful artworks which explore the limits of painting.

Stand-Out Artworks

There are a couple of booths youl need to visit if you’re looking to be photographed next to a stand-out artwork. The first undoubtedly is Anthea Hamilton’s pumpkin sculptures at Thomas Dane’s booth (London & Naples. E5), although you’ll be hard-pressed to find a time where you’ll be the only person in-shot.Another great photo-opportunity is with Jeffrey Gibson’s fabulous multicoloured hanging works at Stephen Friedman Gallery’s booth (London, B17). The display is an explosion of colour, make sure to immerse yourself in the experience.

We are huge fans of Frieze Sculpture and we definitely recommend taking a walk through Regents Park to take in each of the captivating pieces from the 19 international artists involved. It’s also a great way to take a break from the intensity of the Frieze London tent.

Are you heading to Frieze? Get in touch to tell us what your favourite booths and pieces were!
