Biography

Emmanuel Massillon, born in 1998 in Charleston, South Carolina, is a contemporary American artist currently living and working in Atlanta, Georgia. Massillon’s multidisciplinary practice spans sculpture, installation, and mixed media, often incorporating found objects and materials that speak to African-American identity, cultural memory, and the legacy of systemic oppression. His works explore themes of Black history, diaspora, and spirituality, frequently engaging with symbolism drawn from religious iconography and Afro-Caribbean traditions. Massillon is an emerging voice in the contemporary art scene, and while his market is still developing, he has gained recognition through residencies, group exhibitions, and institutional support. Notably, he was an artist-in-residence at the prestigious NXTHVN programme founded by Titus Kaphar, which has helped bolster his visibility within the art world. His work has begun to attract curatorial attention and is held in select private collections. Though not yet broadly traded on the secondary market, Massillon is seen as a rising talent with increasing market traction.
