JORDY KERWICK
Biography
Born in 1982 in Melbourne, Australia, Kerwick is a self-taught contemporary artist currently based in Albi, France. He is widely known for his raw, expressive style that merges figurative motifs with abstracted, almost primitive forms. Kerwick's work often features recurring iconography such as serpents, tigers, skulls, and still-life arrangements, blending mythical and domestic elements in bold colour palettes and textured surfaces. Primarily working in painting, he also explores collage and mixed media to create layered visual narratives.
Kerwick's rapid ascent in the art world has seen his works acquired by major private collections, and he has exhibited with leading galleries including Almine Rech, Vito Schnabel Gallery, and Galerie Droste. While not yet a recipient of major institutional awards, his commercial success is notable; his market is considered highly liquid with frequent appearances at international auctions, where his works often command prices significantly above estimates. Kerwick is considered a rising figure in the global contemporary art market, blending street-art energy with art-historical references.
