Biography

The Connor Brothers, an art duo consisting of British artists Mike Snelle and James Golding, emerged in the art world in 2012. Initially, they maintained anonymity through a fictional backstory, portraying themselves as American twins who escaped from a cult. This narrative mirrored their personal struggles with mental health and addiction.

Their artwork often juxtaposes vintage pin-up imagery with witty, sometimes cynical, text, creating a unique commentary on contemporary society. Notable series include "True Love Stories" and "Pulp Fiction," where they reimagine classic romance novel covers and dime novels with modern, sardonic twists.

The Connor Brothers' work has been widely exhibited internationally, including solo exhibitions at Maddox Gallery in London and Nanda\Hobbs in Sydney, and group shows at venues like West Chelsea Contemporary in New York. They have also collaborated with notable figures and organizations, such as Pussy Riot and the Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM), reflecting their engagement with social issues.
