Hi philippehugot , I saw a couple of his works at Stolen Space on Brick Lane here in London a few months ago. I think he is a cleaver guy, putting some decent research in his art. As Tania said, he plays with old masters but the way I see it is that he uses old master narrative and pop culture iconography as a way to make a perceptive short circuit that builds a contemporary social commentary. I think he has also some influence from African contemporary culture, especially in the colours and in some charatisation.
Which piece have you got? BTW, congratulation for the acquisition.
Cheers!
Ps: It also reminds me a bit of Connor Harrington, are you familiar with him?

Thanks for your input. I got a small one, which you can see in my collection here, Portrait of Charles Mingus
