Last weekend I had the pleasure to meet the artist
I found her work through Instagram at the beginning of the pandemic. I immediately fell in love with her vibrant colours and serene landscapes with a touch of nostalgia - as if I had ever visited these places in the past, which I didn't; actually no one did. These are not real spaces. Keates paints from memory and that's the beauty of the nostalgic feeling - because it shows me that we all want the same things. We all share this idea of what home looks like even if these are not homes (Keates does not like the association with home either).
Anyway, I was so thrilled to meet her and it was wonderful to hear her talk about her work process. Definitely an artist to watch, I assure you! She is now represented by
#ArushaGallery and lots of art collectors are beginning to collect her work. I would certainly love to have the pockets to own one of her pieces 😪
How was your weekend
