Du Jingze
Biography
Du Jingze is a rising contemporary Chinese artist known for his thought-provoking explorations of identity, duality, and the immigrant experience. Born in Yantai, China, in 1995, Du moved to Ireland at the age of 13, where he later studied at the National College of Art and Design in Dublin and earned his MA from the Royal College of Art in London.
Deeply influenced by his early mentorship with painter Wu Xiaolin, Du developed a practice rooted in emotional expression and structural clarity. His paintings often feature fluid, stretched human forms rendered in muted grey tones, symbolizing the shifting nature of identity and belonging. Themes of strength and vulnerability, masculinity and femininity, and cultural hybridity permeate his work, reflecting his personal navigation between Eastern and Western cultures.
