Biography
Idris Khan, born in 1978 in Birmingham, is a British artist known for his multi-disciplinary approach, involving photography, painting, sculpture, and film. He lives and works in London, where he shares a studio with his wife, artist Annie Morris. Khan's works often explore themes of memory, time, and cultural history, frequently employing layering techniques that fuse text, music, and images into densely textured compositions. His notable projects include public sculptures like 65,000 Photographs in London and the UAE's Wahat Al Karama memorial.
His art is housed in major collections worldwide, including the Guggenheim Museum, Centre Pompidou, and the British Museum. He has also been commissioned by institutions such as the British Museum and collaborated with choreographers on stage designs. In 2017, Khan was honoured with an OBE for his contributions to art. His works command attention in the art market, with regular exhibitions in top galleries and institutions across Europe and North America.
