Biography

Jonas Wood (born 1977 in Boston, Massachusetts) is an American painter who lives and works in Los Angeles. He is best known for vividly coloured, flat-patterned paintings that draw on still life, domestic interiors, houseplants, portraits, and scenes from everyday life, often filtered through a distinctive collage-like sense of space and perspective. Working primarily in painting, printmaking, and drawing, Wood combines art-historical references with personal imagery, creating works that are both intimate and formally striking. His work has entered prominent museum collections, including major American institutions, and he has achieved wide recognition in the contemporary art world through solo exhibitions with leading galleries and museums. In market terms, Wood is regarded as a highly established blue-chip contemporary artist: his paintings have performed strongly at auction, demand has been broad among private collectors, and his market is generally considered comparatively liquid by contemporary standards, with frequent secondary-market trading. He is especially recognised for turning familiar subjects into instantly identifiable compositions.
