Tomokazu Matsuyama (b. 1976, Takayama, Gifu, Japan) is a Japanese-American contemporary artist based in Brooklyn, New York. His multifaceted practice encompasses painting, sculpture, and large-scale public installations, often blending Eastern and Western artistic traditions. Matsuyama's work reflects his bicultural upbringing, drawing from Japanese Edo and Meiji period art, classical Greek and Roman statuary, French Renaissance painting, and contemporary global pop culture.
