Suzanne Moxhay
Biography
Suzanne Moxhay, born in Essex, UK, in 1976, is a British artist known for her distinctive photographic works. She currently lives and works in London. Trained initially in painting at Chelsea College of Art and later at the Royal Academy Schools, Moxhay's practice has evolved into a unique blend of photography and digital manipulation. Her works often draw on film sets, model-making, and collage techniques, producing atmospheric and enigmatic interior and landscape scenes that blur the boundaries between reality and fabrication.
Her imagery frequently explores themes of decay, absence, and constructed space, referencing both art historical and cinematic traditions. Moxhay uses matte painting techniques from early cinema and combines them with contemporary digital processes to create surreal, dream-like compositions that interrogate notions of memory, place, and temporality.
Her work is held in several important collections, including the Victoria and Albert Museum and the Royal Academy of Arts, and she has exhibited widely in the UK and internationally. Although not known for a high-frequency auction presence, her work is well respected and collected in institutional and private circles, indicating a moderately liquid market with selective but serious collector interest.
