Requesting an appraisal

Before we begin, we also offer a step-by-step video tutorial by Bethan Street, Artscapy's Head of Digital:

The first thing to consider here is why you are looking for a valuation of your artwork:

  • If your aim is to ultimately sell your work and you are trying to figure out its current market value, then it is recommended that you refer to the second part of this guide (under Sell your work) that focuses on selling. Each step is then geared towards helping you reach your ultimate goal which is getting the best possible price for your artwork.

OR

  • If you would like a valuation for a more formal purpose such as for tax reasons or insurance, then you are in the right place and this is the type of valuation that you need.

There are multiple ways to request valuation from your account.

METHOD A:

Step 1: From your dashboard, click on Value my artwork under Art Valuation.

Here, you can see the 3 step process towards getting an appraisal as well as an example of the kind of report you would receive at the end of the process. This is also quite helpful just to set your expectations to what you can receive and the kind of detail you can get it in, so it is recommended that you take a look.

Step 2: Scroll down to see your uploaded artwork and click on the action ‘Request valuation’

METHOD B:

Step 1: This step is the same as the previous method - click on Value my artwork under Art Valuation.

Step 2: Click on My collection

Step 3: Using the drop down arrow next to each individual artwork, choose Get a valuation.

This will take you to a Review and Submit page.

Step 4: Check the details of your artwork and add any relevant information.

Step 5: Press Submit

And that’s it! You should usually receive your valuation within 30 days of submitting your request.

Sell your work

Before we begin, we also offer a step-by-step video tutorial by Bethan Street, Artscapy's Head of Digital:

Step 1: Open your dashboard, click on Sell now, under the category - Sell with us.

Now, you should see two Sale methods, step 2 is to select your preferred method.

Option A: Maximize your returns

This method allows us to work with you to create a strategy best suited to your artwork and test multiple sales channels. It is worth noting that this sale requires a longer period of time.

If you choose this method then:

Step 3: Select the artwork to sell from the drop down list

Step 4: Add any additional information about the artwork

For example: You can change the consignment period to be until the artwork is sold and choose maximum reach for your work, if you would like to share your work with our entire collector database.

Step 5: Click Submit Listing

That’s it! You have completed the steps and an advisor will get in touch with you shortly.

Option B: Fast Sale

This method is ideal for collectors who are interested in fast liquidity. We aim to get an offer for your work between 1- 3 business days. Once the offer is secured, it will be visible on your art account, leaving you to make the final decision on whether to accept or reject it.

Step 3: To qualify for this method, your artwork must be valued over £10,000 and it must belong to an artist from this list

If your work qualifies, then you can click on Fast Sale.

Step 4: Select the artwork to sell from the drop down list

Step 5: Under Consign, select Fast sale again.

Step 6: Add any additional information about the artwork

For example: You can change the consignment period to be until the artwork is sold and choose maximum reach for your work, if you would like to share your work with our entire collector database.

Step 7: Click Submit Listing

That’s it! You have completed the steps and you should receive your offer on your account shortly.
